Meet Dianna “Mama D” Liner

Explain to us a little more about what Liner Entertainment Group, LLC does for Artists. We are a Talent Management and Executive Film firm. We are not a label, but we know what the labels are looking for. We have an indie label that will be launching soon. As far as our responsibilities as managers, we handle the day to day business operations and careers of our artists from Public Relations to setting up interviews, to finding booking agents to branding. We also find the right Producers for our artists and once they are label ready, we then submit them to our Label Associates for signing considerations. Our Job pretty much is to get our artists completely ready to be national and internationally successful.   We pretty much do it all with the help of our other team members in Los Angeles. Once the artist is signed to a label, both LEG and the label become the driving force behind the artist.

With all the Experience and Networking you’ve gained over the years in all of these different fields, it must really come in handy when managing talent I bet?   Oh yes, it does… it makes it easier because now I can go to my associates whom I met through networking over the years for advice as well as services needed. It’s great to have that Major Connection and I hate to use the word connection but that’s what it is and that’s what is really needed in the industry today. You have to surround yourself with the right people that know what they are doing and can do what they say they can do. This is a business of “it’s all who you know”. So all my many years of net-working, although it’s been hard, is finally paying off in many ways.

Along your journey, who are some of your favorite celebs to have worked with and what made them standout?  Well I have to Say Mo’Nique is amazing. I had the pleasure of doing a show with her that aired on Inside Edition. It was during my low self-esteem period, when I started to gain the weight; she brought me on to lift my spirits. I was not a in a good place at that time and didn’t really like “ME” and the words she spoke to me made sense. She said “If you can’t love yourself, how can you expect someone else to? You have to learn to love who you are as a person and look inside yourself and find your Joy”. That really stuck with me. Another person, and I know this is going to be a shock, but Gary Busey. My artist (NAME REMOVED) opened for Boys II Men a few years ago and Gary came to hang with us and support (NAME REMOVED). Backstage he told me “Dianna, Let your haters be your motivators,” I had heard this before but it seems strange coming from Gary. Because of the trials and tribulations I was going through as a black woman in the industry… for some reason that stuck with me and today I live by it!
