Brian Culbertson
R&B/Jazz Multi-Instrumentalist
Los Angeles, California

by Kitty Y. Williams
A few weeks ago I received an email from Helio PR introducing me to Verve/Universal Recording Artist, multi-Instrumentalist Brian Culbertson out of Los Angeles. Upon researching Brian further, I soon felt as if I had rediscovered Skittles for the first time as a child. Long story short, pure Euphoria! From the very first song I listened to on Amazon, “Still Here” feat. Vivian Green – lead single from his new Dreams album (which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Jazz Albums Chart), to his music videos on YouTube Vevo, I was entranced with the beauty of his collaborative sound and the different genres that were crossed throughout the different pieces. Through the music videos, I fell in love with the Spunk, Character and Soul he brings to playing the Piano (and other instruments). You can totally tell that this is not just a job for Brian; he truly enjoys the masterpieces he creates with Artists including: R&B’s Avant, Faith Evans, Ledisi, Brian McKnight, Kenny Lattimore, Musiq Soulchild; Music Producers like Rex Rideout or session players like guitarist Rob Bacon,

Michael Thompson and John “Jubu” Smith who have collectively worked with some of the top names in the industry like Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Beyonce and the list goes on. Culbertson is definitely a stand-out phenomenon on his own and I am certain that he will be a Jewel to the music industry and his fans for decades to come.

His music is timeless. The beauty of most Instrumental only pieces is that it allows each listener to interpret the meaning of each song into their own language or fantasy. For me, jamming to Brian’s music took me back to very happy moments in my youth where my Father would load my brothers and I into the truck and drive us for 2 hours to Austin, TX listening to Jazz music the entire way. Austin is such a beautiful city and it was like our little getaway from all the stress of life. We would go eat stuffed-crust pizza with barbecue sauce and then go run around the giant malls and feel so free. Basically it was a happy time, and Brian’s music took me back there. It took me back to when I was a little girl and Mother was the neighborhood Piano teacher and we enjoyed all of the recitals and classical pieces we played and had big celebrations afterwards. Good times. Like I said, the music allows everyone to indulge in their own memories and interpretations.
