Composer and Recording Artist VonFrederick was born in Houston, TX and has loved music all of his life. His original stage name was Cordoba Khan (CK for short). It came to be in 1980 at the age of 15 where he adopted ‘Cordoba’ from the car made by Chrysler; he later found that it also is a beautiful city in Southern Spain. ‘Khan’ derived from the greatly admired Chaka Khan whom he has admired since he was 14 years young. ‘Cordoba Khan’ was so harmonious that when he heard them pronounced together, he heard his destiny.

As Cordoba Khan, in August 1987 he was a participant in the People’s Workshop for the Visual and Performing Arts, an annual local program that showcased Houston’s talents. Backed by a 3-piece band named Velvet Touch, CK won the first prestigious Sam Houston Sammy Davis Jr. Sammy Award in the field of Rhythm and Blues.

During his youth, VonFrederick did not know the Lord as his personal savior despite thinking he did. Finally, in 1994 he sought the Lord with his whole heart and repented of his sins. God was faithful unto him on the first Sunday of that November. He was filled with the power of His Holy Ghost. Now he is commissioned by the Lord to sing of the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, of righteousness, hope and love.

After he came to know the Lord Jesus, the venues of course changed as well. CK, or VonFrederick Bernard Woolbright, no longer graced the stages of night clubs. Instead, podiums and platforms allowing him to reach the hearts of men and women, both young and old, became his new calling.  He has ministered through music at venues including Word Network and BET through Ambassador Dr. (NAME REMOVED) Jones International Gospel Industry Retreat and TBN (Houston).

CK has made it his mission to spread the Word of God through Song and Ministry, to encourage the people of God and to bring hope to the hopeless in Jesus’ name.
