In September of 2013 I was invited to a Jam Session at a TV studio in Houston that was featuring a Gospel Artist visiting from Dallas to film a few promos and interviews. My good friend and long time Business associate, Jay (JM & Associates), thought it would be a great idea for me to check this Artist out for a feature in The INDIEgator magazine. Shaun G, is originally from St. Louis but has been living in Texas for the latter years of his life.
Shaun was first introduced to music as a young boy in church and just loved the sound and rhythm especially of Gospel, R&B and Jazz due to their chord changes and the soul behind them. Even so, he still claims to love all styles of music simply because “every style is different and should be appreciated.” His first opportunity to get in on that action and perform himself was during a Christmas program at his home church.
Shaun G: No one saw it coming. The audience was surprised and gave a round of applause. They really enjoyed it!
Audiences, including the Editor here at The INDIEgator, really enjoy the diversity of Shaun’s musical style. In one Jam Session we heard Rock, R&B, Pop, Hip Hop, Crunk and more… all in praise to God and it was ALL amazing from his range of skilled vocals, to the three support Vocalists who stood with him during the session, to the various surprise “bust a move” moments the entire staff and crew enjoyed from team. This Artist is not one you can just throw into the “one genre box” as it would be a great injustice to his universal messages of Love, Peace and Praise which transcend social, economic, and even spiritual growth levels and boundaries.
The INDIEgator: Do your friends and family support your Entertainment career and what motivates you on this chosen path?
Shaun G: Oh they definitely support me, which is both needed and appreciated! Also, I am motivated by People… I love to help people and I use this as an avenue to really share my heart.
The INDIEgator: What was your biggest or most successful event to date?
Shaun G: The ones that come to mind are youth camps because they (youth) ARE our future.
