Soul”n”Roll King “SoulGreg Artist” of Slovenia

SoulGreg ArtistThe INDIEgator: You have made yourself available to several Record Labels, Music Producers and other Artists who have fallen in love with your music over the years. You’ve been in some Rock, Folk and Variety Bands. You’ve performed with several Musicians during this time as well. With all of this networking and positive experiences came a lot of challenges and pit falls. What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned about the music industry and about yourself from all of that?

SoulGreg Artist: Yes, through the years I have learned a lot. One of the most important things is that I must always be true to myself in each given time and place. It is important to unselfishly consume what the music industry is offering so you can offer something that could be interesting in reality for the music industry. I have also learned that if you’re not into the music unconditionally with all of your heart and soul, then you will sooner or later lose your ground or won’t respect the given opportunities and may simply just give up. I know a person should find out first who he is and what is meant for him so he can then know where to go, where his place is, where his home is. Without my deepening into self-reflection through the theory of Vrednost Neuspeha (The Value of Failure), I too would have lost myself in the mass of wanting to be someone or in the mass of wanting to have more and more, because that is how a person’s ego works. I am sure I would be lost following my desires through the ambitions and not through the person SoulGreg Artist.  My ego goal would have killed the Artist within me and I know I would never feel the satisfaction, joy or content, because I would have lost the love within me, I would have lost myself.

The INDIEgator: Thank you so much for sharing that insight with us. You are completely correct. I have seen several independent Artists lose themselves before they ever get the chance to “Make It” because they get caught up in frivolous things, unhealthy acquaintances, false facades and materialism. Have you noticed any major differences between the Music Industry in Slovenia versus the United States and how your style of music is perceived or accepted?

SoulGreg Artist: Slovenia and the United States are completely different.  Slovenia is a very small country with a population of 2 million people. It`s as big as one of the suburbs of a major city. Consequently it also has the syndrome of a small country, which means that people are more conservative and think they know all about each other, even if they really don’t.

The U.S.A is a huge country with a population of over 300 million people and at the same time has great connections in the music industry worldwide. The two do not compare. The people, culture, the law is also quite different. The Theory of “The Value of Failure” teaches that everything that happens to a person is his, because he is the source of where everything is coming from. Each person is the creator of his life, because he is fully responsible for his own life. So in this case, anything is possible no matter who you are and no matter where you come from. It is important to have faith and to do what you do unconditionally with love. So, I just try to let go and let myself be taken wherever there is a purpose for me.

The INDIEgator: At one point after several experiences, you locked yourself away in your home studio for SIX years. Was that a waste of time or do you feel that you gained or learned something unique during that period?

SoulGreg Artist: I do not regret anything in my life and do not see it as a waste of time. Everything has a purpose. The one purpose for me, no matter what happens in life is discovering and learning about myself, about my music. During this period of six years I was doing exactly what I then needed the most. I got the chance to enhance my studio experiences, exploring myself as an author, producer, arranger, etc. In this period I listened to all possible kinds of music and explored them. For every minute I had been given through these six years at the studio, I am grateful.

The INDIEgator: I love it. Yes, sometimes we just have to step away from the world to review where we’ve gone, where we plan to go and alternative paths we can take to get there. For any aspiring Musicians, what do you think is at least one major key to notoriety and longevity in the music world?

SoulGreg Artist: As I mentioned, only unconditional love for what you do can bring notoriety and longevity.  But unconditional love means that you are aware at any moment that even if you will never be successful on the outside, even if you will never make money or for that matter even if you will never reach anything on the outside, that what you are doing is your life and your love, regardless of what you get out of it. This is unconditional love

which keeps the passion alive and makes the Artist a True Artist who is stronger and bigger each day that passes by.

The INDIEgator: You are a very passionate Musician and Artist. You write your lyrics. You play multiple instruments. You lift up your voice and sing. You entertain. In your opinion, how important is it for people to have passion for what they do, whatever career path they choose in life?

SoulGreg Artist: I believe that Everything lies in the passion for what you do. People who do not follow their inner voice, people who do not follow their own heart, their own passion, have in my opinion lost themselves in one way or another and this brings about emptiness and inner collapse. Therefore it is very important to find your passion in life and it is even more important to live it.

The INDIEgator: What keeps SoulGreg Artist so humble in this world and music industry?

SoulGreg Artist: Following my inner voice, my vision and my music keeps me grounded and humble. Letting go of the illusory goals that do not exist, letting go of all greed is the one thing that makes me and the Artist within me even stronger.  My humbleness and the human being within me is getting stronger by taking responsibility for myself, being ready and willing to see myself each day and stepping into accepting myself and the world as it is. The process of acceptance and much more is written in the book Vrednost Neuspeha (The Value Of Failure); this is where I get my tools from for the goal of becoming a more respectful and loving person through each day as it goes by.

“Love is the state that makes me want to live, it is the state that makes life reasonable and it is the state that gives a person true happiness.”

The INDIEgator: Whether it be in 10 years or 50 years from now, when our descendants look back and they come across this interview in The INDIEgator and other interviews featuring Soul’N’Roll Musician SoulGreg Artist from Slovenia, what is the number one thing that you want them to remember about you and your work?

SoulGreg Artist: I wish this would be THE interview through which people in the U.S.A would hear about Soul “n” Roll and the book Vrednost Neuspeha (The Value Of Failure) for the very first time. I also wish that people will remember the interview by my message, which is a summary of my way of living. If a person follows himself unconditionally out of the love he has for his actions, then he really has nothing to lose. On the contrary he just has so much to gain because he is rewarded with himself and that brings a person exactly what he needs, what he was created for in the first place.

The INDIEgator: I think I’m going to call you SoulGreg Philosopher from now on, lol. Once again, you have shared with us an amazing comprehension of life. Would you like to say anything about your new wife, your family or friends and how any of them affect what you do professionally?

SoulGreg Artist: My wife to be Nina and our daughter Ella Vita are my inspiration, my joy and my support so I have the bravery to go on and follow my path as an Artist. Nina supports me unconditionally at each step I make on my music journey. She believes in me 100% and even more she admires and absolutely loves my music.  What a great reward I have been given already. Her love for me and her love for my music mean the world to me.

The INDIEgator: Does religion or spirituality play any role in your music if you care to mention?

SoulGreg Artist: I believe there is a greater force, I believe in unconditional love. When I am fully connected with myself, it is then I get the inspiration which flows through me. I feel unconditional love and am connected with that energy which is creating music in my name.

The INDIEgator: Last question. What is your favorite color?

SoulGreg Artist: Blue. Blue reminds me of the clear blue sky without any clouds. It gives me the feeling of love, freedom and eternity.

The INDIEgator: Thank you friend for this wonderful interview. We enjoyed the chance to get to know the mastermind behind your music. I am

just in awe at how progressed you are in your views about life and the forces within us. So many others are unfortunately still living in the dark, so to speak. Sharing this side of yourself, for me, has been a bit therapeutic.

SoulGreg Artist: Thank you Miss Kitty for such questions, because I can feel through them your respect and love. It was a privilege to do this interview with you. It is not often that I get to answer questions which are so deep, giving me the chance to reveal myself on this level. Wishing you all the best!
