  • Music Review: Tracy Cruz

    - As seen in the April/June 2012 issue of The INDIEgator, Pages 57-58. - Article Short Link:  Tracy's Official Website │ Facebook │ Twitter │ YouTube │ iTunes Neo-Soul by Austyn "MrBugz" Jeter Her music hinges on heartless dissonance and jolting hope. Tracy Cruz’s music represents a vast, magnificent blend of polarities. We never get just one side of her; we get the kaleidoscope. Her song lyrics and production will unfailingly take you on a musical excursion, intended to resonate with all who experience it. As surely as it will crush your soul, it will also elate you. A vocal powerhouse, one that can speak a universal language, can only back up this aural diversity. Tracy’s alluring voice is comprised of sounds old and new, resembling Jill Scott’s throaty moans and Sarah Vaughan’s lyrical accentuation, all while still managing to remain distinct. Born in Quezon City on the island of Luzon in the Philippines, Tracy grew up in an encouraging household where she

The emphasis is in the energy born into the guitar riffs and melodies of the songs. Daniel Goldman brings in the lead guitar side, throwing in swift precise leads and use of effects to keep the energy flowing. Jonathan Long on Bass uses effects to voice out the bass even more for distinct dynamics. Jay Gonzales throws in strong fills between upbeat rhythm sections on drums. Greg Afek on vocals brings off a clean and scream tradeoff, giving off strong energy and putting everything together. With all these elements you come up with Avid Fixation. An energetic, creative, committed branch of music. Vocalist/Guitarist Greg Afek: “I’ve started playing music at the age of 17, yet I feel like

    - As seen in the April/June 2012 issue of The INDIEgator, Pages 54-55. - Article Short Link: Pop/Rock Official Website │ Facebook │ YouTube by Austyn "Mr Bugz" Jeter Aundria’s music career started when she was 18. There was a guitar in the house and she thought,” I wonder if I could play that”. She started by learning a few songs she liked. Before she knew it, she was writing her own songs. Aundria’s songs come from experiences in her life. “With the right group, I would love some of my songs to rock really hard, or have a country feel. I’m so used to performing without a band, that I feel more like a light acoustic performer. When my album came out I had to pick a genre and I put myself in 3 groups, Acoustic, Pop, and Rock.” “I spend more time learning other artists’ songs than I do writing my own. I don’t have favorite groups or artists, but rather individual songs. Liking a variety of music makes my book of covers diverse and interesting. Some

We all asked him a few questions and then he gave us a LIVE performance for part of his audition.  I found him to have a very Beautiful and Powerful voice, excellent string skills and I’m sure he’ll do quite well in this competition as he has in many music competitions over the years. I was so impressed by his sound that I couldn’t help but want to get to know more about this Artist and see how
